Tour provides more than 12000 euro!
On Saturday the 11th of May the group of cyclists arrived home after a very special week. The group cycled over 325 miles in 5 days and visited all the 5 MSS-families living in the UK. The cyclists got a warm welcome from all the families and is was very special and emotional to meet each other and sharing experiences.
The group cycled 80-100 miles a day and the many hills made the tour tough and the days long.
On Friday, the last day of the Tour, the group of cyclists arrived at Oxford, where they met prof. Thakker and his researchteam. The cyclists were able to hand over a cheque of 11542 euro. Because of the donations afterwards, the total amount is now more than 12000 euro!
The Oxford University research team will be looking specifically at the bone abnormalities of MSS patients. The research could explain and lead to treatment of the severe respiratory problems suffered by the children, which can prove life-threatening in later life.
Thanks to the ‘MSS UK Tour the Cure team’ (Titus Mars, Alex Meems, Joran Meems, Hanneke van Zweden en Liesbeth Laan) and to all generous donors.
